The cloud lifted and rain cleared for thousands of pilgrims who made the annual climb to take mass on the summit of Croagh Patrick today.

The Archbishop of Tuam, Michael Neary is leading the annual Croagh Patrick pilgrimage which has been a feature of the Irish Catholic Calendar for the last 1,500 years.

Mayo Mountain Rescue is carrying out its usual operation on Croagh Patrick for the annual pilgrimage.
