A loyalist source in Belfast has claimed the statements from the UFF and Red Hand Defenders were made after the British Government sent word to UDA leaders, threatening to arrest and charge them for directing terrorism.
Postal workers in the North are to decide this afternoon whether or not to return to work in the wake of the Red hand defenders statement that they are to stand down.
The Red Hand Defenders have ordered their members to stand down.
The loyalist group, the Ulster Freedom Fighters, has issued a statement condemning death threats against Catholic teachers and postal workers.
