Bookmaker Paddy Power are paying out on Irish boxer Kenny Egan as the winner in today’s Olympic light heavyweight boxing final.

Ireland’s Kenny Egan had to settle for a silver medal at the Workers’ Gymnasium today.

IRISH boxers have brought the country to heights not reached since Melbourne in 1956 as Darren Sutherland claimed a third Olympic medal in Beijing.

KENNETH EGAN will climb into the ring next Tuesday just one fight away from an Olympic medal and, like it or not, he will be favourite to take the bronze medal — at least — away from Beijing, following a very impressive 10-2 victory over the Turkish light heavyweight, Bahram Muzaffer, for a place in the quarter finals.

KENNY EGAN’S next Olympic opponent yesterday declared himself ‘the best boxer’ in the division ahead of their light heavyweight showdown on Thursday.
