LIKE Dr Pat Walsh (Letters, May 12), I too welcome the debate on Gallipoli in the columns of the Irish Examiner.

I WAS interested in the letter from Dr Pat Walsh (April 26) on the justification – or lack of it – for the invasion of Gallipoli by the British and French in 1915.

THE indefatigable Tom Cooper has written an important and uncomfortable letter (March 1) on the subject of the cynical exploitation of the Irish war dead in the First World War.

PERHAPS the key date in the history of ancient Ireland is that of Good Friday, April 23, 1014, the day of Brian Boru’s victory over the Vikings at the Battle of Clontarf.
