The Special Criminal Court has reserved judgement in an application by relatives of the Omagh bomb victims for documentation to help their civil compensation case against those suspected of carrying out the 1998 atrocity.

Relatives of the Omagh bomb victims today began an action in the Special Criminal Court in Dublin seeking documentation to help their £10m (€15.1m) claim against those suspected of carrying out the 1998 atrocity.

Alleged Real IRA member Liam Campbell has failed to in his bid to secure bail pending his re-trial on a charge of IRA membership and a second trial on a separate, unrelated membership charge.

The Special Criminal Court today fixed a date in July next year for the trial of the man gardaí believe is a former director of operations of the Real IRA, Liam Campbell, on a charge of membership of an illegal organisation.
