An investigation into the death of Mark Duggan who was shot dead by police, triggering a series of riots across Britain, has found no forensic evidence that he was carrying a gun, it was reported today.

Britain's police watchdog has admitted it may have wrongly led journalists to believe that police shooting victim Mark Duggan fired at officers before he was killed.

Scotland Yard has confirmed that 26 police officers were injured in last night's riots in Tottenham in north London, and that 42 people were arrested for offences including violent disorder, burglary and theft.
