A former detective garda yesterday denied he told Marie Farrell gardaí knew Ian Bailey had killed Sophie Toscan du Plantier and needed her to say Mr Bailey was the man she saw near Schull hours before the body was found.

Efforts by Ian Bailey to fight an attempt by France to extradite him raises “complex issues” including a claim of “abuse of process” and allegations of Garda misconduct, the High Court heard today.

The High Court has remanded on bail journalist Ian Bailey who is wanted by the French authorities in connection with the investigation into the murder of film producer, Sophie Toscan du Plantier in West Cork 13 years ago.
