A YOUNG Englishman was stabbed to death because he joked during a social night out in Cork that his father had been in a loyalist organisation — and yesterday the accused was given a life sentence for murder.

A CORKMAN accused of murdering a young Englishman had a history of anger, aggression and self-harm and once threatened to kill his mother and sister with a hatchet, according to the defendant’s doctor at the trial yesterday.

THE Corkman who denies murdering a 25-year-old English man told detectives that only an animal or a scumbag would have stabbed him 11 times.
