The families of the Irish students killed in a balcony collapse in the US have said the response of their friends to the tragedy is a testament to the bonds between them.

Car bombs have exploded in a synchronised sequence of attacks outside at least four churches in Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk, killing at least three Iraqis and wounding nine, according to police.
