AN ATTEMPT to smuggle a mobile phone inside a candle into prison was intercepted last week.

A jury in the trial of two Dublin men accused of murdering a 65-year-old grandmother were sent to a hotel for the night after failing to reach a verdict, at the Central Criminal Court today.
