India has accused Pakistani troops of firing guns and mortars on at least 50 Indian border posts overnight in Kashmir, calling it the most serious ceasefire violation between the nuclear-armed neighbours in a decade.

Pakistani forces opened fire on Indian border guards before dawn today, an official said, adding that two of the Indian troopers were shot and wounded.

SIX people including a pro-India politician were killed in Kashmir, where a forest gun battle between Islamic militants and Indian troops entered a fourth day yesterday.
