Russian investigators have said a suicide bomber who killed 35 people and wounded 180 at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport was a 20-year-old man from the volatile southern Caucasus region.

PRESIDENT Dmitry Medvedev fired Moscow’s transport police chief yesterday and lashed out at “passive” officers who guard airports and rail stations after an airport suicide bombing killed 35 people.

A suicide bomber killed 35 people and injured more than 140 when he blew himself up in a packed terminal at Moscow’s busiest airport today.

A special European Union envoy was travelling to Tblisi today to encourage all sides in the protests in the Georgian capital to abstain from violence, the Italian foreign ministry said.
