Extreme weather made life miserable from one end of the United States to the other, with people forced out of their homes by wildfires and major flooding.

A wildfire roared across brush-covered hills in Los Angeles’ sprawling Griffith Park, triggering evacuations of homes and some of the city’s most famous landmarks.
