A wave of a dozen car bombings hit in and around the Iraqi capital during morning rush hour today, officials said, killing at least 36 people in the latest co-ordinated attack by insurgents determined to undermine the government.

Insurgents in Iraq detonated a series of car bombs across Iraq today as co-ordinated attacks killed at least 55 people on the deadliest day in nearly a month.

A highly coordinated string of attacks have hit Iraq killing at least 36 and wounding more than 200.

More than 50 Iraqis died today in violence including a car bombing that killed 25 people in the third major attack on a police station in three days.

At least 35 people have died today in bombings, mostly in Baghdad and police have discovered more bodies as well.
