A man charged with murdering a prostitute in Thailand eight years ago was being questioned yesterday in connection with the frenzied stabbing of a mother outside her Dublin home.

An inmate at Mountjoy Prison resorted to swallowing batteries in a protest to get medical attention, an inquest heard.
