Rescuers said there was “no hope” of finding anyone else alive in the rubble of Pisco, a southern Peru port city levelled by a magnitude-8 earthquake that left at least 540 people dead.

Rescue workers continued to search for survivors of Peru’s earthquake as the toll of known dead rose to 510.
