One of the Indian trains in a crash that killed more than 60 people was travelling three times faster than it should have been and ignored signals to stop, investigators said today.

MITHUN MAHATO was fast asleep on an overnight train before an enormous jolt awakened him and he panicked because his coach was flipping over.

An express train crashed with a passenger train at a station in eastern India early today, mangling the carriages and killing 56 people, railway police said.
