David Millar became the fourth Briton to savour victory on the 2012 Tour de France with a win on stage 12 yesterday.

Tour de France leader Bradley Wiggins was struck by a flare before again addressing the subject of doping in cycling by saying: “I want to prove I’m doing this off bread and water and hard work.”

A counter attack from yellow jersey Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky colleague Chris Froome saw them move into first and second place overall after stage 11 of the Tour de France as the race entered the high Alps.
