SPLENDID warm sunshine and gentle breezes gave perfect conditions for the skippers and crews on the 140 boats which took to the water for the second race of the C.H. Marine Autumn League series at Royal Cork, boosted because this was also the final race of the SCORA season long leagues.

DESPITE light and variable winds and early tides, 85 boats raced in the Cove SC John McCarthy Motorpoint annual race from Cobh to Blackrock village on the outskirts of Cork City.

FIFTY-THREE boats raced from the Royal Cork at Crosshaven in the inaugural Irish Examiner Round The Island race and the silver salver for the winner went to Sally O'Leary, who helmed Ford Racing.
