The €40,000 award of damages to hill walker Teresa Wall following a fall on the Wicklow Way is to be challenged in the High Court. Appeal papers are to be lodged within a matter of days, it was confirmed yesterday.

Hill walkers are warning their hobby is under threat after a court case awarding major damages to a woman who fell on a trek in Wicklow.

Hillwalker Teresa Wall, who was injured when she fell on a rotting boardwalk on the Wicklow Way, was yesterday awarded €40,000 damages against the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
