EXACTLY two months after discharging himself from a psychiatric hospital, a 26-year-old man who claimed he was the Archangel Gabriel stabbed a Garda sergeant before thrusting two knives into his own chest, killing himself almost instantly.

THE sergeant stabbed by a man on Sunday who then took his own life, is expected to make a full recovery — but the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has slammed the Government’s continued failure to protect officers with proper health and safety measures.
