SET in 1968, this story follows Doctor Justo Pastor Proceso López, a respected gynaecologist in the Colombian city of Pasto, who harbours a secret ambition to tell the world that the myth of Simon Bolivar, the venerated ‘Liberator of Latin America’, is really a sham.

A volcano in southwestern Colombia erupted, blanketing the nearby provincial capital of Pasto in ash and prompting the evacuation of 7,000 people living in its shadow. There were no reports of damage or injuries.

The Colombian government said today it will evacuate 9,000 people living near a volcano in the south-west amid concerns it is about to erupt.
