Colonel Gaddafi said today no deal was done to secure the release of the man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing.

British Justice Secretary Jack Straw acknowledged today that the prospect of trade and oil deals with Libya played a part in the UK government’s handling of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi.

The American government praised the upholding of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi’s conviction and said Libya now had to pay compensation to his victims.
