There was a sense of sad inevitability yesterday as plumes of smoke rose from the gutted remains of yet another historic listed building in Cork City devastated by fire.

THE head of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has called on two State bodies to act after another malicious fire caused extensive damage to part of one of Cork’s most iconic buildings.
