Syrian rebels seeking to topple President Bashar Assad fought intense battles with his troops today at two military air bases in northern Syria, activists said.

Syrian rebels captured the country’s largest dam today after days of intense clashes, giving them control over water and electricity supplies for much of the country in a major blow to Bashar Assad’s regime.

Syrian troops have shelled rebel-held areas and clashed with opposition fighters in several locations across the country today, activists said.
