A TOTAL of 101 candidates will be sweating it out at Saturday’s counts as they wait to see if they will get one of the 48 Cork County Council seats on offer.

The introduction of the dual mandate was supposed to ban politicians from double jobbing. So the locals in and around Cloyne could be forgiven for being surprised to see President Mary McAleese running for Cork County Council.
