Nasa’s Opportunity rover successfully landed on Mars today, arriving at the Red Planet exactly three weeks after its identical twin set down.

As Nasa scientists struggled to revive their ailing Mars rover, they also began to prepare for the landing of its twin, which is scheduled to touch down on the other side of the Red Planet late tonight.

AFTER seven months of interplanetary travel, the search for life on Mars begins. NASA’s Mars rover, Spirit, rolled to a full stop on the surface of the red planet early yesterday morning.
