The Indian temple stampede which killed at least 168 people and injured 100 was caused by a false rumour of a bomb, it emerged.

At least 168 people were killed and 100 injured when thousands of pilgrims stampeded today at a Hindu temple in the historic town of Jodhpur in western India, officials said.

TWO bombs rigged to bicycles tore through a crowd of Muslim worshippers leaving a mosque after prayers yesterday, killing at least 32 people and injuring about 100 in India in what officials called “a terrorist act”.

A second blast ripped through the crowded streets of a western Indian city today as Muslim worshippers were leaving afternoon prayers, killing 22 people and injuring 45, a top police official said.

At least five people were killed today in an explosion in the western Indian city of Malegaon.
