Hopes of a settlement in the ITV Digital crisis have risen after senior executives of Carlton Communications and Granada held talks with Football League officials for the first time.

ITV Digital’s administrators today issued a statement to the Stock Exchange which admitted there has been a ‘‘lack of progress’’ in negotiations with the Football League over their television deal.
