A man who killed his girlfriend in Sligo while having delusions they were in an alternative reality has been committed to the Central Mental Hospital.

"She struggled so hard, I knew I had to kill her, kill her, kill her,” he said.

Gardaí are investigating an attack on a woman in Sligo town.
