US authorities positively identified some of aviator Steve Fossett’s remains: two large bones found a half-mile from where the adventurer’s plane crashed in California’s Sierra Nevada.

Searchers have found what appear to be two large human bones near the crash site of Steve Fossett’s plane in California’s Sierra Nevada, along with the adventurer’s tennis shoes and driving licence.

The wreckage of a small plane found today in California “appears to be the aircraft piloted by adventurer Steve Fossett”, the National Transportation Safety Board said.
