A SENIOR officer is to lead a Garda operation to combat a sharp rise in so-called “hole-in-the-wall” raids on ATM machines.

RAIDERS made off with a substantial amount of money yesterday morning when they used a JCB digger to rip out a bank machine at a Co Wexford petrol station.
