Two huge wildfires burned into neighbourhoods near Los Angeles last night, forcing frantic evacuations, destroying homes and causing at least two deaths.

Rescue crews responding to a crash on California’s San Fernando freeway found a driver fatally shot in the head, while another driver was shot and wounded in a separate attack about 30 miles away in Long Beach, authorities said.
