Plans for a national stadium for the North on the site of the former Maze prison have been put on hold by the DUP.

An Irish republican parade commemorating the hunger strike death of IRA prisoners protesting against British government policy began today in the North.

The notorious Maze jail site has been identified as the only suitable location for Northern Ireland’s new national sports stadium, the British government said tonight.
