Detectives launched a murder inquiry today after a young man shot in the head died in hospital.

Police investigating the shooting of a man in Northern Ireland have found a gun, ammunition and two pipe bombs.

Police in the North have suggested that loyalist paramilitaries may have been responsible for the attempted murder of a Catholic lorry driver in Derry yesterday morning.
