Kerry County Council is in “active discussions” to acquire land which has the potential to provide 3,000 burial spaces in Killarney.

Bereaved families are faced with “intolerable” situations over a continuing delay by Kerry County Council to secure land for a public burial site in Killarney.

The escalating cost of agricultural land is making it difficult to acquire land for burial ground in an area already short of publicly- owned grave plots.
