A tanker which ran aground on New Year's Day causing 150 villagers to be evacuated from their homes has been successfully re-floated.

A 3,000-tonne petrol tanker is to be towed to Falmouth in Cornwall once it has been freed from rocks where it was grounded eight days ago, the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency said today.
