Suicide bombers have attacked an Iraqi police station killing eight officers in the deadliest of a series of attacks across across the country that killed at least 29 people.

A bomb exploded today in a predominantly Shiite area south-east of Baghdad, killing eight people and wounding 13 others, police and hospital officials said.

At least 25 people were killed when a suicide bomber slammed his truck into a densely populated residential area in the northern Iraqi city of Tal Afar today.
