A former mayor of Kilkenny has said that opposition to the planned mosque and Islamic centre in the city was not an issue of religion, but one of traffic management.

The Islamic community wanted to build on a site at the Hebron Industrial Estate on the edge of Kilkenny city.

A children’s charity has thanked the public for its “overwhelming” support after a lorry containing around €140,000 worth of donations was trashed.
