A member of staff has died after suffering serious injuries in an incident before a race at Haydock, in England.

Stalls handler Stephen Yarborough has died after suffering serious injuries in an incident before the fourth race at Haydock on Friday.

Twenty-three years ago, Limerick jockey Declan Murphy’s skull was so badly fractured in a fall at Haydock Park that his death was confirmed by the Racing Post. Prematurely as it happened, writes Colm Greaves.
