FRENCH President Nicolas Sarkozy, especially while in Dublin, should respect the decision of the Irish people and not try to impose the Lisbon Treaty by any circuitous route.

AS referendum day dawns, it would be a shame to see a largely indifferent and confused nation to be in any way complicit in handing our relatively young democracy to powerful European bureaucrats who are more concerned with their governance of the masses than providing genuine and inspirational leadership.
