RESCUERS dug through mud and wreckage yesterday searching for more than 1,100 people missing after flash floods and landslides struck northwestern China and killed 337, one of aseries of floods across Asia that have killed hundreds of people and spread misery to millions more.

FLOODS and landslides across Asia plunged millions into misery yesterday as rubble-strewn waters killed at least 127 in north-western China and four million Pakistanis faced food shortages amid their country’s worst-ever flooding.

Landslides killed at least 80 people and left an estimated 2,000 missing today in north-west China, the latest disaster caused by widespread flooding in the country.
