Irish milk prices have been gaining ground on EU mainland prices, according to the June prices comparison by the Dutch LTO farmer organisation.

A wet spring which has cut milk solids production in New Zealand by 0.2kg-0.3kg per cow per day on many farms is on course to accelerate the drop in milk supply across Europe, Oceania, and Latin America, which has been lifting markets.

Poor conditions in the European market, and a milk surge in New Zealand, will test the dairy market, as it approaches a crunch point, due to the seasonal production peak in the northern half of the world.
