Turkey has forced a Syrian passenger plane to land at Ankara airport, - Turkish state-run TV station TRT ha reported.

Turkish authorities today detained a man who threatened to blow up a passenger plane to divert it to Iran, officials said.

British foreign secretary Jack Straw expressed hope today that renewed Turkish initiatives would help resolve the Cyprus dispute, which threatens to hinder Ankara’s efforts to join the European Union, Turkish media said.
