Polish man Piotr Baram is back drinking on the streets of Ennis after remaining sober for more than 100 days.

Clare’s county town has put in place additional security measures to ensure there is no re-occurrence of homeless men sleeping in the town’s €70,000 per annum superloos.

The best friend of the late homeless man Josef Pavelka, who came to national attention because they both had to sleep in a public toilet, said Josef was his fourth friend to die from drinking too much alcohol “and I don’t want to be the fifth to die from drinking”.

A community leader yesterday warned that two homeless men currently living in public toilets in Ennis will die unless they can access state services.
