People living in the River Shannon’s flood-risk zones have been urged to engage in the state’s largest-ever flood map consultation process.

ANGER is mounting among the hundreds of people who this time last year had to flee their homes in Galway, Offaly, Westmeath and Roscommon as the Shannon and other smaller rivers burst their banks and flooded thousands of acres.

WE need sustained investment in flood relief for at least 15 years, as new research predicts extreme weather events here are becoming more common.
