A Co Monaghan man has been jailed for three years for the possession of a car bomb that was left outside Crossmaglen police station.

A Co Monaghan man already serving a prison sentence for possession of firearms was today charged with a new offence of having explosives in the North in 2010.

New charges were brought at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today against three Co Louth men who already face charges in connection with dissident terrorist activity in the north east.

A father-of-five accused of possessing a firearm and of IRA membership was refused bail today.
