A New Age Traveller about to be sentenced for a killing on a campsite in Leitrim in 1998 has tried to change his plea to not guilty, claiming new evidence that shows Garda corruption.

Three new age travellers on trial for the murder of a man on a mountainside in Leitrim in 1998 have had pleas of manslaughter accepted by the DPP.

A murder trial jury has heard that three new age travellers in dispute with new arrivals to their campsite knocked one man to the ground, bound his hands with a rope, and then beat him so severely that he died from his injuries.

The start of the trial of three new age travellers has been adjourned to Thursday while one of the accused seeks counsel to represent him.
