The board that rules on appeals regarding aquaculture licences has requested a string of new reviews before making any final decision on a proposed new salmon farm off Shot Head in West Cork.

A controversial West Cork salmon farm application will be considered at a hearing in Bantry next month.

The Department of Agriculture has refused, under appeal, to publish a report it commissioned into how 230,000 farmed salmon escaped from cages in Bantry Bay during winter storms.
