A LAWYER for the man convicted of the manslaughter of a teenage student outside Anabel's nightclub nearly five years ago told the three-judge Court of Criminal Appeal yesterday they are baffled as to how the verdicts in the case were rendered.

LAWYERS for the only man jailed for the killing of student Brian Murphy outside Club Anabel at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel in August 2000 submitted yesterday that some of the statements of his co-accused were highly prejudicial to him and went well beyond the prosecution’s case against him.

The Court of Criminal Appeal has reserved its judgement on an appeal brought by a Dublin man against a sentence arising out of an incident in which Dublin student Brian Murphy was kicked to death four years ago.
